Geonwoo Lee

I’m Geonwoo Lee, a master’s student in Computer Science concentrating in Artificial Intelligence at UNC Charlotte. Working with Professor Mohsen Dorodchi, I’m developing educational chatbot dashboards as a Research Assistant and exploring retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and Socratic questioning through an ongoing independent study. Previously, I built and evaluated a domain-specific RAG pipeline as a Data Scientist Intern at EPRI and gained full-stack development experience at GEOTWO. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Medical IT and Marketing from Eulji University, where I researched automated vehicle-accident reporting.

My research interests include neural networks and deep learning, RAG, ontologies and knowledge representation, human-centered AI, and intent-aware AI systems. I’m particularly interested in combining structured knowledge with learning methods to develop AI pipelines that better understand human intent. Through this work, I hope to build systems that help people explore information, reason through questions, and achieve their goals.
