Mentoring

Mentoring at Eulji University

Participation dates: Apr 2023, to May 2023

Role: Mentor

Summary: I had the opportunity to share valuable insights with students from my alma mater, not only from my department but also those interested in IT. I provided them with crucial IT knowledge that I wished my seniors had imparted to me—details about what a typical day in the field looks like, how to navigate career paths, and manage professional growth effectively. These are the kind of tips that would have made my own academic and early career journey much smoother.

It had been a while since I last engaged in mentoring and lecturing, so I felt a bit nervous initially. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the students' intense interest and passion for IT. They were so engaged that they would send me direct messages and even approach me personally to inquire about future career prospects. Discussing topics like how to become a full-stack developer, the expected levels in coding tests, salary expectations, and the current job market atmosphere, I found this interaction incredibly motivating and enriching.

This experience not only allowed me to give back but also reinvigorated my enthusiasm for the field, reinforcing the impact that sharing expertise can have on the next generation of IT professionals.
